The fourth Vendor Meet was organized at Midhani on 14.12.2012. This is an annual event providing a forum for Midhani as well as the esteemed vendors for sharing of ideas and future plans enabling building up of a stronger relationship for the future. Representatives from 70 companies participated in the Vendor Meet.

| A detailed presentation was made on the salient features of the “e-Procurement” portal of Midhani, which was launched in December 2011. Representatives of the Vendors who attended were informed about the requirements of obtaining of a Digital Signature Certificate and the importance for registration on the “e-procurement” portal of Midhani. Facility for online registration of the Vendors as well as the Bill Tracking facility on the web site was informed to the participants during the presentation.
Highlights of the augmentation of the facilities at Midhani as well as future plans were presented to the participants followed by a lively interactive session, which witnessed active participation from the vendors. |

MIDHANI CELEBRATES 9th CUSTOMER MEET AT TARAMATI BARADARI

Shri A.K Chakraborthy , Director, DRDL inaugurated the well attended 9th Customer meet -2012 , held at Taramati Baradari ,Ibrahim bag Hyderabad on 6th & 7th of November 2012. This meet was attended by 111 delegates representing 42 organizations across the country.

CMD MIDHANI explained how changes are being brought in to meet the changing requirements of the customers, in the areas like PEOPLE, PROCESSES, and EQUIPMENT & PRODUCTS. He opined that customer meet is a platform not only to understand the present & future requirements of the customer but also to demonstrate the strengths of MIDHANI to reinforce the confidence of the Customers.

The chief guest shri A.K. Chakraborthy in his address appreciated the efforts of MIDHANI in developing and supplying the materials needed by Indian strategic sectors. He also elaborated the future requirements of Defense and stressed that MIDHANI should gear up to meet the challenging requirements of this sector.

After inaugural session. Shri E Kishore, Dy Manager (Mktg) have given a brief overview of Midhani’s products and Customers and Shri D Gopi Krishna, AGM (Projects) have given a presentation highlighting the expansion plan of MIDHANI. Shri Selvaraj, AGM, HAL (Indigenisation cell) and Dr Jayakumar, Director (Met & Mat), IGCAR gave their presentations in the Technical Session 1 which was followed.

On 7th DEC., 2012, during Technical Session 2, Dr M. Chatterjee of MIDHANI have given the presentation on ongoing R&D activities at MIDHANI. Shri Shankar Rao, V of VSSC presented the requirement of aero space fasteners, Shri Pradeep Agarwal of BHEL RC Puram, HYD. and Dr Kulvir Singh of BHEL, R&D , HYD. have given their presentation on the requirements of BHEL. |

Shri B.Prasada Rao, who was the Chief Guest for the valedictory function, in his Address, commended MIDHANI for Organizing the Customer Meet in such an exemplary fashion. He observed that this would directly influence the future performance and help MIDHANI scale new peaks. |

MIDHANI Signs MoU with ALIMCO

Midhani has entered into an MOU with M/s ALIMCO, Kanpur on 05.12.2012 for supply of Aids & Appliances to PWDs in various districts of Andhra Pradesh under CSR Policy of Midhani.
Mr. G. Narayana Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, M/s ALIMCO and Shri M. Narayana Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, Midhani have signed and exchanged the documents which would be valid for a period of two years. Shri V.S. Krishnamurthy, Director (Finance), Dr. D.K. Likhi, Director (Prodn. & Mktg), MIDHANI and Senior officials of ALIMCO & MIDHANI were present on the Occasion.

BIRTH CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS OF DR BRAHM PRAKASH
Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited has organized Birth Centenary Celebrations of Dr. Brahm Prakash, former Chairman of Midhani on November 30th, 2012 at MIDHANI playground.
Dr. Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble former President of India was the Chief Guest. Dr Kalam appreciated and congratulated Midhani for not ony developing Superalloys and Special Materiasl like Titanium alloys, ultra special steels but also in making some of the critical equipment indigenously without depending on imports.
Rich tributes were paid to Dr Brahm Prakash and with reverance Dr Kalam recollected his association with Dr Brahm Prakash and Prof Satish Dhavan , their guidance and confidence reposed in him while giving him task of heading the Satellite Launch Vehicle programme. He further said that Dr Brahm Prakash was a silent decision maker , a good listener, and has nobility in management and urged all midhanians to take an oath to work with integrity and suceed with integrity.
While addressing the school children of Brahm Prakash DAV school set up by MIDHANI, he inspired the children to realise their potential , goodness, trust and to grow with ideas and dreams.
During the last 3 decades, the mission of MIDHANI to achieve self reliance in the manufacture of alloys , products and components for strategic and critical sectors, as envisaged by Dr Brahm Prakash while reviewing the project and recommending for consideration of Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs in 1975 has been accomplished said Shri M Narayana Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, during the welcome address.
Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited has taken the lead and planned year long celebrations with the first event having been organized on August 21st 2012 to mark the beginning on his 100th Birthday at MIDHANI. The year long celebrations include Technical Seminars, Lectures, Sports and others.

The certificate handing over ceremony was held on 10th October 2012.

Women have an eye for precision and discipline that enables them in manufacturing value added product like Fasteners said Shri MM Pallam Raju, Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri, Government of India after Laying the foundation stone for Aerospace quality Fasteners plant to be run exclusively by women on commercial scale at Midhani, on June 25, 2011.
Shri Pallam Raju further said that Midhani is playing a significant role in manufacturing of critical Special Materials and stressed the need to integrate all the facilities and resources available to achieve self sufficiency in the country. He also appreciated the concept of empowering women and using their skills, knowledge and potential in running the Fasteners plant from start to finish.
There is an incredible market potential for fasteners of various special alloys consequent to the growth of aerospace industry and indigenization of these products will certainly lead to considerable foreign exchange saving for the country said Shri M Narayana Rao , Chairman & Managing Director , MIDHANI while welcoming the Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri, top officials of various Defence units and Midhanians.
Midhani has already demonstrated its capability in manufacturing Fasteners of Superalloys, Titanium alloys and special steels in large quantities and is supplying the same to Navy, ISRO and DRDO. Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, a Mini Ratna Defence enterprise has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Steel Authority of India (SAIL), a Maharatna Company for utilizing their infrastructure facilities with Midhani’s technological and technical expertise to augment production capacity to meet the special material requirements of our strategic customers on June 16, 2011 at New Delhi
Midhani has achieved a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24% over last 5 years. Several deliverable initiatives taken in last few years towards establishing synergic linkage of internal expertise with cost effective external resources has resulted in such an impressive performance. In addition Midhani has commenced expansion and upgradation of facilities. However to meet the ever growing demands for special materials for strategic applications of national importance, it became pertinent for Midhani to enter into a strategic alliance with SAIL which houses some of the best equipment that could be utilized by us and this certainly would lead to a win- win situation for both the organizations, said Shri M Narayana Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, Midhani while speaking on the ocassion. Henceforth, both the organizations will jointly be making efforts to Serve the Nation, said Shri Rao. |
| Speaking on the ocassion Mr CS Verma Chairman SAIL opnied that signing of the MOU between these two companies would lead to indigenization of all steels that are being imported by Defence and other strategic sectors like Atomic Energy , Space and Power. Shri Verma further said that it would lead to consolidating the co -operation existing between the two organizations, facilities wise , technology wise and R&D wise for the benefit of strategic national missions of our Country as a whole and in future may translate into a Joint Venture too. |

It has a rich tradition of distinguished and exemplary leadership. IIM awards medals in recognition of significant contributions in various fields every year.
This year Shri Dina Nath Bhatia General Manager (Production) from Midhani has been awarded the " HINDUSTAN ZINC GOLD MEDAL " for his contribution in the development of Titanium processing for Non Ferrous Metallurgical Industries
Shri DN Bhatia has joined Midhani in its initial days and has been working in the development of Titanium . He has also won a number of other awards including the Defence Ministers award. He is presently the General Manager of Production at Midhani. |
